IMA was founded in 1981 by 3 major mutual insurers, MAIF, MAAF and MACIF, with the aim of providing their member-policyholders with high quality assistance services by mutualising their resources.
Other mutual insurers then gradually joined IMA : MAPA and SMACL, followed by MATMUT, MAE, AGPM, AMF and Mutuelle des Motards.

The IMA Group , which is also very attached to the values of solidarity and respect for others, is today number 1 in assistance in France and one of the market leaders in Europe.

IMA’s main mission is to provide personal, medical or technical, assistance to the 34 million policyholders - half the French population - of its mutual shareholders.

IMA’s professionalism and mutual ethics account for the company’s popularity. 145 health mutuals have turned to IMA to assist their insured, i.e. 14 million people.

Many other clients, from sports federations to car constructors, and other French and European insurers, have also asked IMA to cover their assistance activities in France or worldwide.

Altogether, more than 49 million people potentially benefit from IMA’s expertise everyday.

To increase efficiency for those insured during their travels and for European clients, the IMA Group has operations in Belgium, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Spain and the UK.
